I recently attended a webinar hosted by ISAAC called “AAC and Students with ASD: California’s Efforts to Close the Research to Practice Gap”. In that webinar, Ann England (M.S., CCC-SLP) introduced a project in California called CAPTAIN (California Autism Professional Training And Information Network). It was conducted in the view of supporting the understanding and the use of evidence-based practices (EBPs) when supporting Autistic individuals.
Their website provides information on ASD, EBPs for ASD, as well as nice resources to support parents and educational professionals to understand and support Autistic individuals. It also has Spanish version for lots of the resources and information provided on the website.

When you click into those links, you'll see some ready-made resources for some commonly used strategies/ interventions, which is handy for both clinicians and educational professionals. They have also included some references for the evidence behind the strategies/ interventions in those packs. Now, I would suggest for clinicians to have a look at those referenced research papers in more detail for quality assurance. However, it does provide a pretty good starting point for EBPs.

Let me know what you think about this site and Happy Autism Acceptance Week 2022!
Sneak peek to the next article in this column: I'll be talking about another website/ project that Ann England talked about in her webinar, which is also about EBP for ASD interventions.
